Premiere of the full feature show 'Ink' at Curve Theatre for Inside Out Festival of new work.
Mixing break and contemporary dance, Ink is about the struggle between the desires of state and citizen, embodied in the movement and aesthetic of Chinese calligraphy. Drawing inspiration from the imagery of cinematographer Zhang Yimou (‘Hero’, ‘House of Flying Daggers’) and the social commentary of contemporary artist and activist Ai Weiwei, we follow a writer who walks a fine line between art and dissidence.
When "maintaining cultural values" is the difference between freedom, imprisonment, exile or worse, a writer's life hangs on his words. Bodies will fly and ink will run in this stunning dance showcase.
